Understanding Profile Visibility
Your profile on The Rookies is your creative identity. It’s where you showcase your work, connect with others, and let the world see what you’re all about. But how much of your profile is visible, and to whom? Here’s everything you need to know about profile visibility and privacy options.
Who Can See Your Profile?
- Public Visibility: By default, your profile is visible to everyone, including members of the community and the general public. This is important for showcasing your work, gaining exposure, and attracting opportunities.
- Searchability: If you’ve enabled the option to “Appear in search results,” your profile and projects can be easily found by recruiters, collaborators, and other members.
- Contact Options: In Settings, Contact, you choose who can contact you: other members through a Contact me button, and recruiters we approve on Rookies Recruiter.
Privacy Options
You have full control over how much of your profile is visible and accessible to others. In your Profile Settings, you can:
- Appear in Search Results: Enable this option to allow others to discover your work. Disable it if you want to keep a lower profile and avoid appearing in search queries.
- Open to work: Perfect if you’re actively seeking job opportunities. Your profile will appear in Looking for Work, making it easy for recruiters to find you. You’ll find it in Settings, Contact.
- Other members: Adds a Contact me button to your profile, so members can message you by email. Your email stays private, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings, Contact. Learn more in How do I message other members?.

Protecting Your Information
We take privacy seriously. While your profile is designed to help you get discovered, we also ensure your personal information is secure and compliant with global privacy laws, including GDPR, CCPA, and others. Sensitive data, such as passwords and demographic details, are always protected and never shared publicly.
Your profile is a powerful tool to represent yourself in the creative world. Whether you want to get noticed by recruiters, connect with peers, or maintain a more private presence, your settings give you full control over how you engage with the community.
