Password Protecting Videos

We understand that some creators need to keep their work private, especially if it’s being submitted to other contests or film festivals. At The Rookies, we have you covered with a secure option for sharing your work.

How to Add a Password-Protected Video

When embedding a Vimeo video, you’ll find a Password input field to enter your private password. This ensures your video remains secure while still allowing judges to view it.

Important Details

  • Password Field Visibility: If you don’t see the password input field, it means you’re creating a portfolio project rather than a contest entry. Password-protected videos are only supported for contest entries.
  • Supported Platforms: This feature works exclusively with Vimeo videos. Unfortunately, YouTube’s API does not allow password sharing.

How It Works

  1. When you set a password, your entry displays the video as “password-protected” to the public.

The public cannot watch the video as they won’t have the password.
If you remove the privacy option, the video will become viewable by everyone.
  2. Judges will have access to the password and will use it to watch your video.

Tips for Maximising Your Entry

Even if your video is private, consider adding teaser videos or images that can excite the community about your project. These elements can help build interest and engagement while maintaining your video’s privacy.

This feature ensures that your work stays secure while giving judges full access to evaluate your entry.
