Getting Involved

Understanding High-Fives

At The Rookies, we wanted a way for members to show genuine appreciation for each other’s work—something that felt meaningful and true to the creative community. “Like” might work for social media, but we wanted something with a bit more personality, something that feels as real as the achievements it celebrates.

Why High Fives?

In the real world, when someone does something amazing, a high five is often the go-to gesture. It’s a celebration, a sign of respect, and a simple way to say, “That was awesome!” Whether you’re fist-bumping, smiling, or cheering someone on, the idea is the same—it’s a moment of connection and recognition. At The Rookies, a High Five carries that same energy.

How to Give a High Five

Want to show your support? It’s easy:

  1. Visit a project or contest entry that you think is amazing.
  2. Look to the top-right of the project page.
  3. Click High Five and let the creator know their work stands out.

It’s a small gesture, but it can mean the world to someone who’s put hours of effort into their creation.

High Fives aren’t just numbers on a page—they’re a way for our community to come together, celebrate creativity, and inspire each other to keep going. When you receive a High Five, you know someone truly appreciates your effort and sees the value in what you’ve created.

So go ahead, give a High Five. Celebrate someone’s creativity and make their day!
