The Monthly Art Challenges are designed to inspire creativity, encourage participation, and provide an inclusive platform for all members of The Rookies community to showcase their skills. These challenges are broad, theme-based, and cater to artists across all disciplines and skill levels.
Why Monthly Challenges?
The Monthly Challenges are a refreshed and improved version of our previous Weekly Drills, designed to address past challenges and foster greater engagement:
- Inclusive Briefs: Themes are broad and open to interpretation, allowing all members—from 3D artists to graphic designers—to participate.
- Longer Timelines: Each challenge runs for 21 days, giving participants ample time to create meaningful entries.
- Fair Competition: With categories like “Under 18” and “Open,” everyone has a chance to shine.
- Exciting Rewards: Winners earn special badges and recognition.
The Brief
Every challenge revolves around a central theme designed to spark creativity and offer endless possibilities for interpretation.
Discipline-Specific Ideas:
- Animators/VFX: Create a 3D street scene or animate props found on a street.
- Concept Artists/Illustrators: Illustrate a street scene for a film or game.
- Game Developers: Design a street environment for a game.
- Architectural Visualisation: Render a realistic street scene.
- Graphic Designers: Create street culture artworks or a company brand package.
- Web Designers: Design a website for a famous or fantasy street.
- Digital Fashion Designers: Design street-inspired outfits.
Timeline
- Opens: 1st of the month
- Closes: 21st of the month
- Finalists Announced: 23rd of the month
- Winners Announced: 25th of the month
Categories
- Under 18: Exclusively for younger artists.
- Open: For all participants aged 18 and above.
