How to Export a USDz File

Here’s a simply guide on how to export a USDz file from Substance 3D Painter and see your beautiful displacement working.

Step 1: Prepare Your Model

Ensure your 3D model is fully textured and painted in Substance 3D Painter.

Step 2: Open Export Settings

Navigate to File > Export Textures in Substance 3D Painter.

Step 3: Choose USDz Format

In the Export Textures dialog, select Export USD Asset. This option is highlighted in the interface.

Step 4: Set Export Options

  • Choose an Output Directory where your files will be saved.
  • Name the directory the same as your Meet Mat entry for easy identification.

Step 5: Export the File

Click Export to generate the USDz file and texture maps.

Ensure the file name matches your Meet Mat entry name so it’s easy to identify.

Step 6: Check the File

Open the exported USDz file in Substance 3D Viewer or another 3D software (e.g., USDView, Maya, Blender) to verify that everything looks correct.

Step 7: Upload to Dropbox

Upload the folder containing your texture maps and USDz file to the provided Dropbox folder. This step is crucial to complete your submission.
